Every license includes the full AllSky7 camera system, AllSkyOS software, cloud storage, and 24/7 automated detection. The difference is data rights, support level, and how you use what you capture.

AllSky.com retains all data rights and exclusive commercial licensing rights over all data captured by Community-licensed stations. The hardware setup fee of $1,800 represents a 66% subsidy — AllSky.com absorbs the remaining cost to grow the network. The setup fee includes the AllSky7 camera system, system PC, and the first year of service. There is no annual license fee — software, support, cloud processing, and storage are included at no cost for the life of the station. Operators are granted personal and academic use of their data. Operators may share meteor observations, timelapse data, and other non-event content with the AllSky.com watermark. Bolide and event data may not be released, solved, or shared independently of an official AllSky.com release. All paid licensing of captured content is administered exclusively through AllSky.com. Operators will always receive photo credit in public releases. Community stations are managed entirely through the AllSky web application — system-level access (SSH, SFTP, rsync, custom scripts, or third-party software installation) is not permitted. Community and Professional stations must run AllSkyOS exclusively — installing alternative or competing sky-monitoring software is prohibited. AllSky.com maintains and administers all station hardware and software. Operators requiring direct system access or custom software should upgrade to a Professional or Enterprise license.
Both the operator and AllSky.com hold equal rights over raw observation data. AllSky.com retains exclusive rights over all processed data and data stored on AllSky servers. Operators may share data freely without watermark or attribution to AllSky.com. Hardware setup fee is $2,700 (50% subsidized) and includes the AllSky7 camera system, system PC, and first year of license. Annual license thereafter: $500/year for single-station academic use, $1,000/year/station for academic network license. Professional licensees are granted system-level access (SSH, SFTP) to their stations and may export data in bulk. Custom software installation is permitted with prior approval. Multi-user and institutional end-users should use Professional or Enterprise / Government licenses.
Operator owns 100% exclusive rights over all data captured by their stations. AllSky.com has no stake in the data. Operator may share, license, and network data without restriction. Includes premium dedicated support with a 24-hour response SLA, upgraded PC hardware, enhanced software features, multi-object reductions and solutions (aircraft, satellites, UAP), and the option to run a fully private network. AllSky OffGrid (solar + Starlink) deployments are available exclusively at this tier. Minimum $5,000/year/station. Volume pricing available for multi-station deployments. Contact sales for custom terms.
Non-profit institutional end-users who joined the network before 2026 may be eligible for complimentary Professional license fees. However, all institutional operators must operate under a Professional license regardless of fee status. Contact us for details.
Operators who wish to run their own software on AllSky7 hardware may purchase the system at full unsubsidized cost ($5,000) without an AllSkyOS license. Hardware-only purchases include no software, no support, no cloud services, and no network membership. The operator assumes full responsibility for the system. This option exists for research groups and developers with specific requirements — it is not a workaround for the Community or Professional software requirements.
AllSky7 camera systems purchased at subsidized pricing (Community or Professional) must run AllSkyOS as their primary and exclusive operating software for the duration of the license. The hardware subsidy reflects AllSky.com's investment in growing the network — installing alternative, competing, or third-party sky-monitoring software on subsidized hardware is a violation of the license agreement and grounds for termination. Operators who require alternative software should purchase hardware at full price or contact us about an Enterprise / Government license.
Because Community and Professional hardware is sold well below actual cost, operators who leave the network or discontinue use of their system are required to return the camera system and PC to AllSky.com in exchange for a prorated refund. Refunds are calculated on a 5-year straight-line depreciation schedule: the refund amount decreases by 20% of the original purchase price per year of operation. For example, a system returned after 2 years receives a 60% refund; after 4 years, 20%. Systems returned after 5 or more years of service have been fully depreciated and no refund is issued. Returned hardware is refurbished and redeployed to expand the network. Operators who discontinue AllSkyOS or repurpose subsidized hardware for any other use — including running alternative sky-monitoring software or contributing data to competing networks — must either return the hardware or pay the difference to full unsubsidized price ($5,000). Enterprise / Government operators who purchase at full price own their hardware outright with no return or usage obligation.
AllSky.com maintains exclusive, time-sensitive data on predicted meteorite fall zones, strewn field maps, and search grids derived from multi-station trajectory solutions. This data is commercially and scientifically valuable. Community operators do not have access to fall prediction data. Professional operators may access fall data under a collaborative recovery agreement: any meteorite finds made using AllSky-derived fall data must be reported to AllSky.com, and physical specimens are shared in partnership under terms agreed before the search begins. Finds may not be sold, transferred, or publicized without coordinating with AllSky.com. Enterprise / Government operators receive unrestricted access to all fall data with no recovery-sharing obligations. Independent meteorite hunters interested in partnering with AllSky.com should apply through our Meteorite Recovery Partnership program.
Please tell us who you are, where you would like to operate the camera station and what you are interested in or what you hope to gain from joining our program and operating an allsky camera.
Note: we can not accept all requests for cameras and priorities are based on location, sky view quality and other factors.
